Under ideal conditions, the slit across the entire scan width is infinitely thin, thus negligible. However, in reality it has a finite width. This is yet another contributor to stray light.

there wont be much progress if there is no issues. just like there is no goodness to bechmark against the badies. there exists always a balance, just depens on how one leverage during different phase of his life. for myself, the phase for exploration and creation is now. very real.
there can only be a solution when an issue surfaces else there would be no value no matter how capable one can be. the correct place at the correct time.
if u dun like using optics then try nanoimprint for a change. very moldable too.
